MESA provides dedicated 911 EMS ambulance services and 24/7 readiness to respond to EMS calls in member municipalities from stations in Elizabethtown, Maytown and Norlanco. EMS services also are provided in neighboring municipalities in accordance with mutual aid agreements.
Two levels of EMS services are provided:
Basic Life Support
Basic Life Support, or BLS, generally refers to care provided when a patient is experiencing cardiac arrest, respiratory distress or an obstructed airway. BLS may involve cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using automated external defibrillators (AED) and relieving airway obstructions. The purpose of BLS is to stabilize patients for further care at a medical facility.
Advanced Life Support
Advanced Life Support, or ALS, refers to care involving immediate invasive care interventions for more complex medical emergencies. ALS may involve advanced airway management, intravenous catheters for drug and fluid delivery, and advanced cardiac life support. ALS is provided by paramedic professionals and advanced emergency medical technicians (EMTs).
Benefits to residents of MESA member municipalities include:
- No residual bills for EMS services if your insurance pays
